Gerry Campbell: Head of Investigations

Gerry is a former Scotland Yard Detective Chief Superintendent having retired from policing after a 30years distinguished career in policing. He held a number of high profile positions, where he operated at local, regional and national strategic levels working across HM Government, statutory Community Safety Partners, Judiciary and Criminal & Civil Justice legal professionals. He is a very capable and experienced senior leader.  

He led demanding commands across London and at Scotland Yard including challenging roles as a detective senior leader in high risk areas investigating a diverse range of crime types. As the Commander for the London Crime Squad and the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit Gerry led crime investigations into all forms of serious crime as well proactive intelligence-led operations tackling organised criminal networks, drugs trafficking, money laundering, firearms criminality and associated asset seizure and confiscation.

Gerry led Scotland Yard’s Violent Crime Directorate where he was accountable for Public Protection matters. He was Scotland Yard’s lead investigative advisor on sensitive and high risk cases and was also the lead advisor for Critical Incidents / Crisis Management and response. Gerry is experienced in the field of performance management, inspection, audit and compliance and risk management.

As the Commander of the Specialist Crime and Operations Taskforce Gerry commanded 1350 staff preventing crime, tackling violent & dangerous offenders (in overt & covert investigations), providing the MPS’sresponse to public disorder & policing protests, major incidents and countering terrorism.

Gerry hold’s qualifications as a police Senior Investigating Officer, Management of Major and Linked Series Crime, Counter Terrorism Security Coordinator, RIPA Authorising Officer, Major Incident Management, senior Public Order Commander and Surveillance professional. He was a Security Coordinator for high profile events at Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palaceand held senior command positions for Presidential visits, public protest events and those where there was a terrorist threat.

Gerry is a published author and associate lecturer inCriminology and Psychology.  He has and continues to work with regional, national and international; Governments, law enforcement agencies and NGO colleagues in the USA, Sweden, Denmark, India, Pakistan, Kenya, Somaliland, Somalia, Turkey and Australia.  He has presented at the House of Commons, United Nations (New York & Geneva) and at the EU Parliament.
